Fund Facts The Good Neighbor Energy Fund is available to any Rhode Islander who, because of temporary financial difficulty, cannot meet a month's energy expense and has not qualified for or received other energy assistance funds The Fund has been operating for 22 years, having been established in 1986, and is administered by The Salvation Army. The Fund has raised a total of more than $7.2 million which has assisted over 31,750 families. Last year, the Good Neighbor Energy Fund helped more than 1,750 families pay an electric, gas or oil bill. Sponsoring gas and electric companies support their respective customers' generosity by matching donations. The fund raising goal for the 2007-2008 Good Neighbor Energy Fund campaign is $600,000. Last year, the Fund's corporate and charitable donations continued to grow thanks in large part to: American Power Conversion; Amgen; Bank of America; Citizens Bank; Cox Communications; CVS/pharmacy Charity Classic; Delta Dental of Rhode Island; Johnson & Wales University; Kimball Foundation; Nortek, Inc.; Providence Bruins; RNK Telecom, Inc.; Sovereign Bank; TFC Textron and employees; and University Orthopedics.
