Facts
- The
Good Neighbor Energy Fund is available to any Rhode Islander
who, because of temporary financial difficulty, cannot meet
a month's energy expense and has not qualified for or received
other energy assistance funds
- The
Fund has been operating for 22 years, having been established
in 1986, and is administered by The Salvation Army.
- The
Fund has raised a total of more than $7.2 million which has
assisted over 31,750 families.
- Last
year, the Good Neighbor Energy Fund helped more than 1,750
families pay an electric, gas or oil bill.
- Sponsoring
gas and electric companies support their respective customers'
generosity by matching donations.
- The
fund raising goal for the 2007-2008 Good Neighbor Energy
Fund campaign is $600,000.
- Last year, the Fund's corporate and charitable donations continued to grow thanks in large part to: American Power Conversion; Amgen; Bank of America; Citizens Bank; Cox Communications; CVS/pharmacy Charity Classic; Delta Dental of Rhode Island; Johnson & Wales University; Kimball Foundation; Nortek, Inc.; Providence Bruins; RNK Telecom, Inc.; Sovereign Bank; TFC Textron and employees; and University Orthopedics.
